Good preparation can make all the difference in an interview. The interview is your chance to impress. Here are some tips in preparation for your interview.
1. Rehearse your answers.
Before your interview, rehearse answers to some important questions, such as:
Why do you want the job?
What do you know about ABC and why do you want to work for us?
What are your skills and achievements?
What will you bring to our organisation and your local centre?
What kind of things do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Give some examples of situations where you have worked or participated in a team and whether that worked well and if it didn’t work well, why?
2. Wear the right clothes
It is important you look and feel confident. How you present yourself shows your interest in the job. So wear something smart that you’re comfortable in.
3. On the day of the Interview
Make sure you leave plenty of time to get to the interview – plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your interview time. Make sure you know where it is, when it is and who will be interviewing you.
Take all relevant documents to your interview that you have been asked to do so, e.g. qualifications, working with children check, birth certificate etc, as well as your resume and whatever else you want to that shows you off.
4. Arriving
When you arrive at the location that your interview is taking place, tell one of our people what you’re there for and who you need to see.
5. At the Interview
Don’t be nervous. Our people can’t wait to meet you.
Before you start your interview, take some deep breaths and relax.
Take your time when answering questions and try to show how your skills and abilities will help you perform the job.
If you don’t understand a question, don’t be afraid to ask the interviewer to repeat it.
At the end of the interview, ask questions if you need to clear up anything.
